A Message From the Principal

Welcome to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School, home of the Monarchs!

At St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School our motto is “We pray. We learn. We care.” This is an attitude that permeates in every aspect of our students’ daily experiences. Our dynamic school community makes our campus a warm, engaging, and safe place for students in PreK3-8th grade to learn and grow.

Within our school, we believe that God is present in every person and that we are witnesses to that presence in a loving, faith-filled community. We provide a Catholic education that emphasizes growth in the total person: spiritually, academically, athletically, and artistically.

We are committed to partnering with our families to ensure that our students become the best version of themselves and we invite you to be a part of Monarch Nation!

Mission

St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School is a community that proclaims the gospel by our dedication to quality instruction while fostering our commitment to the needs of others.

We pray. We learn. We care.

Faith

Prayer and our Catholic faith are an integral part of our school day. The entire school celebrates Mass weekly and includes students as readers, ushers, and altar servers.  Our Pre-K3-3rd graders have the opportunity to attend Catechesis of the Good Shepherd weekly, which is a Montessori introduction to our Catholic faith. Some of our Catholic traditions include October’s Month of the Rosary, Advent Services, Stations of the Cross, 8th grade Saint Wax Museum, Month of Mary/May Crowning and First Communion Mass.

Academics

At StMM we provide exceptional academic instruction for all of our students. In addition to the NC Standard Course of Study, we offer Religion in all grades, cursive handwriting in 3rd grade, Spanish in PreK4-8th grade, and Accelerated Middle School Math in grades 6-8. Using a diverse range of traditional and current teaching methods, we make it a top priority to teach each student as an individual. Learning extends to our specials and electives as well. We offer music, physical education, art, media, band and drama. Our 7th and 8th graders are able to choose from a menu of electives quarterly ranging from leadership to technology to Latin dance to creative writing.

Extracurricular

Together with their spiritual and academic values, our students also proclaim their living faith through a commitment to serve in the school and community. Each middle school student is required to complete three hours of service per quarter. Each grade participates in service projects throughout the year, such as the local Brown Bag Ministry, food drive for Catholic Parish Outreach, and pet supply drive for Wake SPCA. In addition to our fine arts, specials, and electives, we offer a variety of competitive athletics programs including soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, lacrosse, golf, volleyball, cross county, and cheerleading.
