A Message From the Principal

Thank you for your interest in Saint Peter Catholic School! We are the only Catholic grade school in the Greenville area and the oldest private school, founded in 1946. We focus on academics, spirituality, stewardship and service.

Our graduates have been named Morehead Scholars, Park Scholars and Fulbright Scholars, and have received appointments to the U.S. Naval and Air Force academies. Our rigorous curriculum prepares students to excel in high school and after, and our character education prepares them to shine as good citizens.

Our faculty and staff have committed themselves to providing students with the best possible education in a safe and loving environment. In a survey of our parents in October 2022, one parent wrote she appreciates St. Peter for our “quality of academic studies, the professionalism of staff and the spirit of kindness that exists amongst the students. Moreover, we feel like we are leaving our child at a safe location each morning when dropping off.”

We invite you to see our school for yourself by scheduling a tour through our website, www.stpeterscatholicschool.com.

Mission

As a center of evangelization, Saint Peter Catholic School builds the leaders of tomorrow upon the foundation of Jesus Christ by preparing students in spirituality, academics, stewardship, and service.

Faith

Religion is a core subject, taught daily to all students. Each day begins with school-wide prayer, along with grace before meals. Our school attends Mass weekly, with students serving as lectors, ushers, gift bearers and greeters. Our Grace Notes praise choir sings at Mass monthly. Students in Pre-K-1st grade use the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Our school serves our community in various ways, including making soup weekly for our local soup kitchen.

Academics

We have an expectation of discipline that creates an atmosphere conducive to learning. All of our teachers are NC certified. Our rigorous academic tradition follows and exceeds the curriculum guidelines from the Diocese of Raleigh and the state of NC. Core subjects include math, English/Language Arts, science, social studies, and religion. Spanish is also a core subject in Grades 5-8. Our special classes include art/art tech, computer, fine arts, library, music and physical education. Our students score well above the national average in Iowa tests and CoGAT tests. Our 8th graders have the opportunity to earn high school credit for Math 1, World History and Spanish 1.

Extracurricular

We strive to identify and strengthen the various abilities and talents of our students. We offer nine sports to our Middle School students: football, cross country, volleyball, basketball, cheer, baseball, softball, soccer and golf. We also have a hula hoop performance team for grades Kindergarten and up. Other extracurriculars include the Young Actors Workshop, Battle of the Books, elementary and middle school choirs, chess club and National Junior Beta Club.
